Marv’s Legacy

Marvin O. Thomann age 77 passed away on November 24, 2025 at his winter home in the Dominican Republic.  He was born on October 11, 1948 in the Town of Brooklyn, WI the son of Paul and Leona (Gilbertson) Thomann. Marvin attended the Attica rural school and was confirmed at the Zwingli United Church of Christ-Monticello.  Marvin would attend Monticello High School until he began working on area farms as a hired hand.  He would go on to work at Baker Manufacturing, Varco-Pruden, and Puriform.

Marvin drove a semi-truck for twenty-nine years until retiring from truck driving to purchase the Jamboree campground near Black River Falls on April 2, 2002 specializing in large music events. Having previously hosted adult parties in Madison, Marv went back to his passion and in 2007 he rebranded the campground to Camp NCN, an adults’ only campground.  Since its beginning Camp NCN has proven to be a popular destination and a successful business venture for Marv.

In 2016, Marv began construction on his dream “retirement home” that overlooks the camp to this day. A rendering of his home is etched into the stone that marks his final resting place.

Those that knew Marv over the years recognize that his passion was to provide a space where adults were “free to be free” and they are thankful for the space that he has provided.

Marvin was survived by his companion Sunita, brothers Alfred, Leo, and Raymond Thomann, nephew Rodger, and countless friends.

He is further survived by his pride and joy, Camp NCN which will live on in his memory.
